A group of Year 7 and Year 8 pupils have recently been following the St John Ambulance Young First Aider Course. This was completed in a 6 hour block over 3 weeks with the trainer, Mrs Sally-Ann Nelson, coming to the school.

The children learnt to recognise and deal with many life-threatening situations, including asthma attacks, cuts and bruises, sprained joints as well as how to react in a emergency situation – following the recognised emergency procedures prior to calling for assistance.

This is the fourth occasion in which Belmont pupils have followed the course; in the process we have produced over 50 qualified young first aiders. – the award is valid for 3 years.
